How the Lack of Intention Almost took me to Fail
It all started 3 years ago with the idea of having my own Website Design Business. I was excited and positive about everything related to my business. I started gathering information and dreaming more and more about it.
And then it was time to start making it happen.
My plan for it was to build my website as a first step, and while building it, I would define my business elements on the go. I thought: ‘when I need a logo, I will create the logo, and when I get to the stage I need to talk about my services, I will define my services, etc.”.
Considering that building websites was already my area of expertise and that I wasn’t new to the business strategy topic, it felt genius! I would kill 2 birds with one stone. Easy-peasy!
But, I was wrong
Time past. And I was actively working on building my business. But the plan I had, made me fail. Once and again. It took me to burn out and quit my dreams (for a while). Why?
Of course, I understood something wasn’t right. Taking even the smallest of steps to make myself visible was getting harder and harder.
If I knew how to build a website almost by instinct, then, why was it so hard? Why was I struggling and not enjoying the process? Why was it taking me so long?
I was clearly missing something.
Burnout times
It wasn’t until I had a real burnout that I took a break from this vicious circle of building-rebuilding things. Just then, when looking at things from a different perspective I understood the problem:
I didn’t have a clear Intention!
I was doing all the things I was supposed to do. I thought I was getting everything ‘right’, following all of the best practices and “how-to’s” related to Marketing and Business work. But what I was not doing, was connecting these things with my purpose. I was not doing the complete homework!
Then, I decided to make this work. To solve it and fix it.
I took a break and did not resume my client’s work until studying and learning all things related to Website Strategy. It was a full universe of information. And I learned it well!
Lessons learned
What was the result? I ended up creating a business that is intentionally designed. It is aligned with who I am as a person from its foundation. It is a business that I am proud to show off. It shows who I am, and it is attracting my type of humans to help them as clients!
Now, making myself visible feels natural and free of blockages!
Just when the Caterpillar thought the world was over, she became a Buterffly
Someone wise-.
What is the best part of this? I decided that I would use this experience and put all of this knowledge into practice to make it part of my process.
Now I help people save the hassle of building a website with the wrong foundation. I help them find their purpose and use it as a compass to keep the north when building their websites. I help them avoid the same mistakes and get them started on the right foot.
If you are in the initial steps of research before building your website, I encourage you to create a detailed plan before moving forward with your business. It will save you time, money, and more than a few headaches.
